ALG offers internship opportunities for high school and college students, and for professionals and retirees. These provide positive experiences for volunteers and contribute enormously to ALG's programs.
Students studying social work, counseling, marketing, sports management and public relations can apply for supervised internships at ALG through their college or university.
Volunteer and internship opportunities are available year round and filled on a rolling basis. Please see below for a list of opportunities.
Painting & Gardening:
Painting and gardening support provides a valuable service to our programs and our neighborhood. Volunteers help keep our grounds looking beautiful, which makes our facilities inviting and helps to attract and retain clients.
Resume and Interview Workshops:
At ALG, job-seekers learn to improve skills and build confidence to secure employment. Volunteers help increase the work readiness of constituents by sharing their professional experience and knowledge while helping constituents practice their interviewing skills and improve their resumes.
Volunteers are the backbone of ALG. We could not exist without their support and dedication. In addition to working with some great kids, ALG volunteers or “coaches,” have the opportunity to attend wonderful trips as part of a mentoring program. Volunteering for ALG is fun and offers opportunities for occasional participation, regular involvement, and leadership on our volunteer committee. Volunteers don't need any prior experience working with youth - ALG provides training prior to each session. Coaches don't need to be athletic, either. Our athletes will love you just as you are!
Supporting Children’s Development:
Through activities like reading, recreational exercise and arts and crafts projects, volunteers enhance the education and health the hundreds of children that access ALG's youth programs. ALG’s youth programs include day care, after-school services, summer day camp, holiday day camp, youth employment and college access.
